The League of Women Voters of Michigan’s Advocacy Committee acts as the voice of Michigan members on state issues and legislation. The LWVMI board votes on recommendations from this committee.
Recently, the committee has supported bills to
• legalize medical aid in dying;
• allow customers to access solar power with fewer up-front costs;
• enable “virtual” power plants;
• establish a firearm industry responsibillity act;
• establish a statewide septic code.
It opposed bills to
• repeal concealed weapons limits;
• repeal Michigan’s Clean Energy Act;
• redirect public funds to parochial schools.
