Observer Corps - Observing Your Government in Action

Do you ever feel like you know more about what is happening in Washington, D.C. than in your local government? 

Local government decisions impact us and we can have an impact on local government decisions. Local government is where decisions are made about how schools are run, what community programs will be funded, how land in our area will be used. 

The first step to learning about these local government decisions is by observing meetings -  township, city, county, school board meetings and more.   The League of Women Voters of the United States has been a champion of government transparency since its founding in 1920.  It has established guidelines and resources for local leagues to form Observer Corps to learn more about government in their local communities.

The League of Women Voters of Holland Area joined this effort by forming an "Observer Corps" in January 2022.   The Observer Corps is led by league members Mike Daitch and Don Sheill.  League members are invited to join this cadre of observers.  You can contact Don or complete the volunteer form linked below.
