Celebrate Women's History Month and International Women's Day
The League of Women Voters of Leelanau County invites you to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day at our virtual forum on Wednesday, March 8th at 12:00 noon.
International Women’s Day began in New York City on March 8, 1857 when female textile workers marched in protest of unfair working conditions. It was one of the first organized strikes by working women where they called for a shorter workday and decent wages. International Women’s Day then developed and is celebrated in the United States and across the world.
At the League of Women Voters of Leelanau County’s March Women’s History Forum participants will learn about the lives of international, United States, Michigan, and Leelanau County women from volunteers who will give short presentations honoring them.
